Triciribine can selectively inhibit Akt1, Akt2, and Akt3 without inhibiting known upstream activators,PDK1 and PI 3-Kinase, of Akt. Studies show that Triciribine in duces apoptosis and inhibits cell growth in cells that express atypical Akt1.
